Educational Philosphy

Every teacher needs an educational philosophy that is the motivation and justification for how they teach and why. An educational philosophy is never concrete but evolving in response to your experiences as a teacher and student needs.

"Building a respectful and cooperative classroom community where students learn to respect and value themselves and others, and where students are able to work together to achieve learning objectives."

In short I plan on achieving this goal by:
  • getting to know and understand students and their individual needs.
  • implementing citizenship goals (i.e. classroom rules) with the help of students
  • STAR program, a rewards program that motivates students
  • group work and collaborative assignments
  • classroom environment: grouping students desks to maximize discussion and working together, a designated PEACE corner in which students have tools to resolve conflict, using student's work in the classroom so that students can see themselves reflected in our classroom environment.
